Starting as King Murchad of Mumu in Ireland in 1066 is generally considered the easiest way to learn the basics of conquest, as all of Ireland’s other realms are smaller and the nearby kingdoms will leave it alone for a long time. Just play the learning scenario the game will offer you when you first start it up and keep reading all the tooltips and you’ll be fine. You can grasp the basics in a day, though you’ll keep learning about new stuff you knew nothing about for a long time afterwards.
